Tania Hernandez

Registered Psychotherapist

I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree (Psychology major/applied music minor) from the University of Guelph and a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am a registered member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (Registered Psychotherapist #10226).

Emotional pain is an inherent part of the human experience, but you don’t have to go through it alone. In our sessions, we will work through your struggles and together create a clear path for you to feel in control and content with your life. You'll enter a non-judgmental space where you can truly be you, with the ability to express your innermost thoughts and feelings.

I will meet you where you are in your journey with acceptance and compassion. I work with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, attachment issues and interpersonal concerns such as work, family, relationships and friendships.

I support clients from a holistic approach, which taps into your physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual self. I use a strength based and creative lens in our work together. My practice draws on existential, humanistic and psychodynamic traditions of Western psychology and is grounded in the wisdom of Eastern philosophies, mindfulness and somatic work.

Life can be challenging at times, and reaching out takes courage. In our sessions, you’ll find a safe, compassionate space to explore your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Through developing a collaborative and dynamic therapeutic relationship, I will support you in strengthening your resilience and confidence while aligning your current self with your ideal self—helping you heal, grow, and create meaningful change.

I draw on my background in neuroscience as well as integrate multiple evidence-based modalities, including acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness-based CBT, narrative therapy, and emotionally focused therapy to provide holistic care which encompasses one's cognitive, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
I work with individuals navigating challenges such as anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, and self-esteem. My role is to support you with compassion and curiosity, helping you develop your strengths and discover meaningful ways forward.

My style is collaborative and person-centred, guided by empathy, compassion, and respect for individuality. I strive to create a safe, supportive space, free from judgement, where you feel heard and understood. Together, we’ll explore what matters most to you, uncover insights, and strengthen your sense of self-worth. My priority is building meaningful connections where trust and authenticity can flourish. I'm curious and open, with particular interest in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, stress, self-esteem, and relationship or identity challenges. I'm passionate about empowerment, helping cultivate self-acceptance, self-compassion, resilience, and agency in ways that feel genuine.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. I prefer an integrative approach, drawing from various therapies depending on your needs. This may involve exploring how thoughts affect feelings and actions, understanding emotions more deeply, focusing on acceptance and life's meaning, or considering how relationships shape you. My goal is always to meet you where you are and support you in ways that feel comfortable and helpful.

I see seeking therapy as a courageous act of self-care. My commitment is to walk alongside you with authenticity, acceptance, and respect as you move past barriers and toward clarity, confidence, and fulfillment.
